Career Awareness

During the first two weeks of October, I will lead my first and second grade students to investigate the world of work.  I emphasis that work is important.  Second, there is a relationship between school and work.  Third, people's strengths and interest help them to choose a job they can enjoy.

I place a special emphasis on the second grade year.  Parents, you have only ten more years until they are a high school senior.  They will be the graduating class of 2021.  Our goal is to have them ready to enter the work force or continue their education.   Second Grade Career Day is Friday, October 15.  On this day all second grade students are encouraged to come to school  "dressed up" in work clothes.  They need to be able to state their job title and explain what they would do at work.

I sent a letter home last week with each student inviting you; parents, grandparents or other relative to come talk to second grade students about what you do at work.  If you are interested, complete the bottom portion of your letter and return to me by Wednesday, October 6 or call me (Ms. Bush) at 285-0273, ext 61513.

I look forward to your coming to Coosada Elementary School  on October 15, to help inform our second grade students about the world of work.
